sth 67 / ush 41 interchange
Dodge county, WI
Client/Owner: Wisconsin
DOT, Dodge County
The existing interchange had substandard vertical clearance and
flooding problems were prevalent at all four quadrants of the interchange.
This resulted in a number of closings of the interchange ramps and
STH 67 overpass, which in turn, resulted in economic impact to the
surrounding business in the Village of Lomira. When design of the
new interchange began, it was decided that the interchange was to
be kept open to area businesses during construction to minimize
economic impact to the community. The reconstructed interchange
provides deep clearance to large trucks to pass through and the
creation of latitudinal bottom ditches slows water and acts as long
detention ponds to help minimize the frequent flooding problems.
Staged construction and aggresive scheduling saved businesses from
economic impact during construction.
