Marquette North leg Staking

Client/Owner: Walsh Construction Company, Wisconsin DOT

Since 1996, Kapur & Associates has been providing survey services for the planning and design of the Marquette Interchange reconstruction project in Milwaukee. Specific services include topographical surveys, property surveys, control surveys and right of way platting. The new Marquette Interchange will be completed in 2008 at a cost of $810 million dollars. Construction began in the fall of 2004 on the North Leg of the interchange. The work consists of 43,000 lineal feet of roadway, 10 new bridges, 27 new retaining walls as well as storm sewer, watermain, combined sewer and a myriad of other items required for the reconstruction of a major urban freeway segment. The North Leg work is scheduled for completion in fall of 2006The creation of a 3D surface model and the use of GPS technology allows for the use of 3D machine control for earthwork and base course placement, minimizing the need for subgrade and base staking.
