I-43 Bridges, Howard Avenue to Menomonee Valley
Kapur provided full project survey and mapping services, inspection, and preliminary and final design services for several bridges and all roadway approach portions of the I-43 Bridge Rehabilitation Project. Part of the backbone interstate system in the metropolitan area, the 3.86-mile portion of I-43 serves the east side Milwaukee County, the City of Milwaukee, the lakefront and Port of Milwaukee and connects Milwaukee with the City of Green Bay to the north and I-94 to the south. The project will ensure the safety, maintainability and economic vitality far into the future.
The project was divided into two major segments: The I-43 mainline portion of the project includes rehabilitating and re-decking all mainline structures between Howard Ave. and the Valley Bridge, a total of 9 structures. The project scope also included increasing the vertical clearances to meet current standards. The second segment of the project includes the rehabilitating and re-decking of all local street overpasses of I-43 from Howard Avenue to the Valley Bridge, a total of 11 structures.
