Burlington Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrade

Kapur managed the design of the treatment facility upgrades in Burlington and provided design services for Instrumentation & Control (I&C), general Electrical Design, Lighting, Operations & Maintenance (O&M), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
A fast-tracked project seeking ARRA funding, the majority of the work was completed in a 3-month period. Construction costs for the electrical improvements totaled over $1 million.
The facility upgrades consisted of:
- Main Pump Station Improvements
- Rehabilitation of Two Primary Clarifiers
- New Specialized Waste Receiving Tank
- Replaced Eight Existing Sludge Pumps
- Rehabilitated/Added Biofilters
- Rehabilitated Intermediate Clarifiers
- Improved/Added Nitrification Basins
- Replaced Aeration Blowers
- New RAS Piping and Pumps
- Remove Existing W3 Pump System
- Improved/Added Final Clarifiers
- Rehabilitate Existing Gravity Belt Thickeners
- Distributed Control System Upgrades
