MMSD Pump Station Improvements

Kapur’s involvement with Pump Station improvements for the MMSD spanned over an 8 year period and included several projects.
Kapur became involved in 1999 when the District needed a vast amount of work designed, constructed, and implemented quickly with Y2K approaching. This fast-tracked work consisted of designing backup generators at numerous locations. Other projects followed including improvements for Conveyance Pump Stations and additional generator work.
The Conveyance Pump Stations project consisted of 7 Pump Stations and 1 Diversion Chamber within Milwaukee County. All of these were designed to eliminate the need for confined entry maintenance. Using submersible pumps on rails, monthly maintenance procedures no longer needed permission from WDNR to divert water, and maintenance is done in a safer environment without confined entry.
