GMIA Glycol Recovery

Kapur is instrumental in the implementation and oversight of the deicing runoff collection program in operation at General Mitchell International Airport since 1998.

The program design includes utilizing glycol recovery vehicles, permanent valve structures, sewer balloons, and catch basin inserts to collect deicing runoff. Kapur is involved in the day-to-day onsite oversight of the program, data collection, and verification of data accuracy. We have continually refined the program in the face of challenges such as non-traditional winter weather, inconsistencies with the collection contractor, insufficient equipment, and difficulties with disposal options.
