Village of Random Lake
Random Lake, WI
Assisted the Village of Random Lake with the development of a GIS. Performed a needs analysis to assess existing infrastructure documentation and determine a recommended solution. As a solution to migrate towards a full GIS within the framework of ArcView 9, the initial recommendation was to construct a database in MS Access but continue using the client’s existing AutoCAD map utility drawing.
All village infrastructure was mapped in the field to provide engineering quality spatial relationships. A Geodatabase was constructed to populate feature attributes. Evolution of the GIS will move the client towards greater implementation of the ArcGIS system as additional feature classes are added and graphical data is migrated from the AutoCAD map into the Geodatabase. This progressive approach met the demands of the public works staff while satisfying the community’s fiscal demands.
