Burlington Riverfront Redevelopment
Burlington, WI
Design for the redevelopment of the Burlington Riverfront. Challenges and goals of the project included developing a transportation system to create a grade separation over the Wisconsin Central Limited Railroad and providing additional capacity to eliminate an existing one-way street system in downtown Burlington. The project turned a rundown industrial area into a new transportation corridor with streets, bike trails and riverwalk, parkways and development sites.
The detailed scope of work included an urban redevelopment and capacity expansion of a four-lane divided and undivided roadway, with a WCL Railroad overpass. Also included was a one-mile concrete riverwalk and ampitheater overhanging the Fox River, as well as a two-mile bike/pedestrian trail with two structures over the Fox River.
