Eureka Bridge

At the request of A.J Dowiatt, City Engineer for the City of Eureka, Illinois, Kapur and Associates designed a 22 foot long clear span concrete bridge over the overflow channel for Lake Eureka.

The existing structure was being supported by temporary wooden bracing to enable pedestrian only access to Eureka Park. The Bridge located next to Walnut Creek needed to be designed and constructed on a tight schedule to be able to use the Park during the summer months. Also the location of the bridge just upstream of the discharge point of the channel to Walnut Creek also posed problems due to the flooding history of Walnut Creek.

The Bridge was dedicated to the Public Works Director in 2014 and serves the Park by accommodating auto and truck traffic and a dedicated pedestrian walk.
